World Tourism Day 2026 in Senegal

On 27 September, the world will celebrate World Tourism Day under a theme that speaks directly to us: "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism".

As UN Tourism points out, travellers and event organisers now turn to artificial intelligence to decide where to meet. Destinations must have their say.

What do these tools answer today when a foreign organiser asks where to hold a congress in West Africa? Where does Senegal stand? On what information, drawn from which sources?

An organiser is planning an 800-delegate congress. They no longer leaf through brochures: they ask an AI assistant.

The answer comes in seconds: venues, capacities, hotels, agencies, practical tips. It sounds confident.

But who supplied that information? AI does not visit meeting rooms. It pieces together what it finds online: venue websites, press articles, directories, platforms. When a figure is outdated, incomplete or misattributed, it may repeat it as is.

In other words, Senegal is already being presented every day to decision-makers worldwide. The question is by whom, and with what data.
