What is happening
From 31 October to 13 November 2026, Senegal hosts the Youth Olympic Games, the first Olympic event ever held in Africa: some 2,700 athletes aged 14 to 17, from 206 countries, competing at three sites in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly. Add delegations, families, technical teams and media.
Teral Travel is neither a partner nor a supplier of the organisers of this event. This article is practical information for business travellers in Senegal on these dates.
What it means for you
- Hotels near the venues, in Diamniadio and on the Petite Côte, will be in high demand, and rates will follow demand.
- Arrivals and departures will peak around 31 October and 13 November: the airport and its access roads will be busier on those days.
- Journeys between Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly will take longer than usual.
Where to stay, depending on your programme
- Meetings in the Plateau, at ministries or company headquarters: stay in Dakar (Plateau, Corniche Ouest, Almadies). The TER train takes you to Diamniadio and the airport without relying on the roads.
- A programme at the CICAD, the new urban hub or the industrial zones: Diamniadio, with the Courtyard by Marriott and the Four Points by Sheraton. The former Radisson, taken over under the Terrou-Bi name, has announced its reopening.
- A seminar or meetings on the Petite Côte: Saly and its surroundings, some thirty kilometres from the airport, have the largest hotel capacity outside Dakar.

Five rules for a smooth trip
- Book your hotel before your flight.
- Book your transfer in advance, with your flight number and a name board.
- Group your meetings by area and, where possible, hold them at your hotel.
- Never schedule two meetings in two different cities on the same afternoon.
- Have a local contact you can reach every day.
A desk open seven days a week
From 26 October to 15 November, Teral Travel replies the same day, seven days a week, to companies, technical teams, media and families: hotel, airport transfer, car with driver, meeting room. Alone or as a group, a single form is all it takes. Teral Travel does not sell tickets.
