Frequently asked questions

Before you make your request

Can we see several sites in one trip?

Yes, by grouping them by region: Gorée, Saint-Louis and Djoudj in four days; the Saloum and the stone circles in two or three; Niokolo-Koba and Bassari Country in five or six.

Do we need a guide?

It is strongly recommended everywhere, and mandatory in national parks such as Niokolo-Koba. For a group, we book French- or English-speaking guides.

What group size works?

Gorée, Saint-Louis and the Saloum welcome large groups. Djoudj is visited in pirogue rotations; Bassari Country and Niokolo-Koba suit small groups better.

Do you organise study or heritage journeys?

Yes: programmes with historians, meetings with site managers, moments of reflection at Gorée. State the purpose of the trip in your request.

Can we take photos freely?

Landscapes, yes. People, only with their consent, and some ceremonies may not be photographed. Using a drone requires prior authorisation.
