Why December 2026 is planned in October
Dak’Art runs in Dakar until 19 December. MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power fills Diamniadio’s hotels from 1 to 3 December. FIDAK opens on the 10th and runs to the 31st. Add company parties, which take meeting rooms and restaurants on Thursday and Friday evenings, and the diaspora coming home for the holidays. On the Petite Côte, the best rooms at weekends go first.
Three formats, three locations
- The review day or workshop (one day, in Dakar or Diamniadio): a plenary room, two or three breakout rooms, coffee breaks and lunch. Hotels call it a “day delegate package”: ask for the per-person rate and what it includes.
- The team retreat (two or three days, on the Petite Côte, in Somone or in the Saloum): work in the morning, activities in the afternoon, accommodation on site. International organisations already know the drill: UNDP (its regional hub for West and Central Africa and its Senegal office) held its annual retreat from 8 to 10 April 2026 at the Riu Baobab in Pointe Sarène.
- The end-of-year party (Dakar): dinner, drinks reception, entertainment. The date matters more than the venue: December Fridays go first.
The timeline, week by week
Example: a meeting on Friday 18 December. The first step fell yesterday, on 23 October. You are now seven weeks out: the right time to submit your request.
Compare like with like
Before choosing, check on every offer:
- whether VAT is included;
- whether breaks and lunch are included;
- equipment (projector, sound system, microphones) and internet access;
- number of breakout rooms;
- cancellation terms and option deadline;
- transport for participants.
